The 10th annual Pink Pajama Party hosted by the Indiana Women In Need Foundation will be held on February 21st and February 22, 2014 at the Indianapolis Marriott North at Keystone at the Crossing. This annual signature fundraising event provides a night of pampering to breast cancer survivors, their friends and family. The overnight event includes complimentary spa and salon services Friday evening in addition to an exciting silent auction, dinner and dancing to the sounds of Living Proof. Guests are invited to join this overnight party in their favorite pink pajamas and wake up the next day to a delicious breakfast and wrap-up activities. An annual sold out event, guests are encouraged to register on-line early at www.iwinfoundation.org beginning January 20th. Our leading Pink Pajama Party sponsors are Vera Bradley, Defender Direct, Dirig Sheet Metal, Dr. J.P. and Shannon Gentile, Kroger, Dr. Cathy Carr and Dr. Irene Minor.
This year’s event will feature an “On Target” theme marking recognition of the million dollar milestone of services provided to Indiana women in need by the Foundation. The Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to our community and corporate supporters that have made this possible.
Funds raised from the Pink Pajama Party will support I.W.I.N. Foundation’s grant program that provides women the strength to endure breast cancer treatment by providing financial assistance for individualized services and support with house cleaning, gas and groceries, child care, massage, yoga, lawn care, snow removal, or photography.
The I.W.I.N. Foundation was founded by Nancy Shepard in 2000 with a vision “to be an innovative organization built on passion, dedication and integrity, where communities feel called to support the mission and to grow and be recognized as the ‘neighbor next door’ to all women and men enduring treatment for breast cancer.” Nancy’s dedication to the fight against breast cancer began several years ago with the diagnosis of breast cancer to a close friend. It was at that time that Nancy realized the impact treatment had on a woman. Due to the fatiguing nature of chemotherapy and the physical limitations of surgery, she recognized that even the simple things in life now became stressors, such as preparing a meal, bathing a child or cleaning the house.
Having assisted 3 women in the first year and 4 men since its inception, I.W.I.N. now serves over 400 women and men each year throughout the state of Indiana serving all 92 counties. The youngest recipient is 18 and the oldest 93 years young.
The I.W.I.N. Foundation is supported by two part time employees: Operations Director, Sue Wynne and Program Director, Kim Brinegar. The board of directors includes founder Nancy Shepard, President Meghan Dagon, Vice President Claudia Davis, Amy Kemp, Julie Pappas, Jennifer Rubenstein, Karla Stein and Ann Marie Tiernon.
To make an impact on a woman going through treatment, a tax deductible donation to the I.W.I.N. Foundation may be made on-line at www.iwinfoundation.org or by calling 317. 475.0565. Sponsorships for the Pink Pajama Party and Impact Sponsorships at the local, regional and state level are also available.
