Drs. Guba & So: Promoting Total Wellness Through Dental Health

Safe dentistry. Healthy dentistry. Alternative Treatments. All in an inviting, welcoming environment that emphasizes education so you are empowered to make informed choices regarding your future dental and overall health. Is that what you desire in your dental experience?

Dr. Guba has advocated total wellness since she joined the dental profession in 1981. She is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Pain Management, has been an instructor for Aesthetic Advantage – a leader in cosmetic dentistry continuing education. She adheres to the protocols and recommendations of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) and other prominent biologic and holistic dental organizations. She is a certified Invisalign® dentist.

Dr. So, a California native, joined Dr. Guba in 2012. She attributes her interest in holistic dentistry to her Chinese background. “I have personally experienced what Eastern medicine has to offer. My frame of reference is that alternative treatments, biocompatible materials and some traditional techniques can significantly improve outcomes for our patients.”

Kristin Taylor, licensed dental hygienist, is proud to be part of a holistic dental team. “I love the fact that education is such a big part of what we do. As a hygienist, I am commited to helping each and every patient achieve optimal oral health. Understanding the connection between oral health and the entire body makes this goal much more attainable."

“We focus on the process of health and wellness and not the treatment of disease,” says Dr. Guba. “We have researched the specific materials we use to ensure that they do not adversely impact our patients. We use a variety of alternative treatments in our practice. We believe in treatment that is patient driven. We often meet with new patients, listening to them and understanding their dental concerns and health issues before we provide treatment options.”

Mercury vapor and chronic dental infections like periodontal disease have a negative impact on overall health. “We focus on removing mercury containing restorations in a safe and responsible way, including the use of a rubber dam, pure oxygen, copious amounts of water with suction, and filtration to prevent mercury from being discharged into our environment.”

“We treat a variety of issues, such as chronic facial pain and TMJ dysfunction, to sleep apnea and restoration of dental implants. Cosmetic solutions are available too, from single teeth to full mouth reconstruction.”

“Fixing teeth is great,” says Dr. So. “Improving overall health is better. Our goal is to provide patients with the knowledge necessary to keep them on the path to wellness.”
