Business Spotlight: MedTech College

For anyone planning a career in healthcare, Medtech College is a name they should know and explore. The college’s
exceptional learning environment helps students develop the “extraordinary” in themselves.

With campuses in Greenwood and Indianapolis, Medtech College is an important healthcare education provider
worth finding out more about. Known for Practical Nursing (PN) and Registered Nurse (RN) programs, the campuses
also offer training in several fast-growing allied health fields, including Medical Assistant and Medical Laboratory

Why Medtech College?

Medtech College focuses specifically on expanding healthcare fields, providing an educational environment in
which students learn through hands-on experience under the supervision of industry experts. Medtech’s experiential
learning approach prepares graduates for success in strong healthcare professions – including four of the Top 10 fastest growing careers.

Campuses focus on student service and satisfaction with program options that are designed for those seeking to
achieve their full potential. Growth in Nursing “Nursing is integral to Medtech’s education focus because
the skills and knowledge nurses bring to medicine are transforming healthcare. Described as art and science,
nursing appeals to dedicated people with extraordinary interests, strengths and passions,” notes Medtech Senior
Director of Nursing Jennifer Cannon.

Nurses are among the healthcare profession’s most indemand caregivers, ranked in the Top 5 hottest growth jobs
in 2013 by Yahoo! Education and No. 2 in 2013’s “100 Best Jobs” by U.S. News and World Report. The Bureau of Labor
Statistics (BLS) Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2012-13 Edition, forecasts strength in nursing through 2020, with
faster-than-average annual growth of 22-to-26 percent. Medtech’s Indianapolis nursing students hone classroom
skills in advanced simulation labs with high-definition mannequins exhibiting the same symptoms as the people
they will treat as licensed nurses. During these interactive experiences, they perfect their “bedside manner” before
meeting actual patients.

Expanding Healthcare Opportunities

Healthcare is poised to expand as technological advances and the extension of medical care to more Americans
increase the need for allied-health workers. To address central Indiana’s needs, Medtech College made a commitment to
educate healthcare providers in such areas as medical assisting, laboratory technicians, medical billing and coding, pharmacy assisting and dental front office– among the nation’s most popular healthcare areas. The Bureau of Labor Statistics, for instance, projects faster than-average job growth through 2020 for medical assisting, medical laboratory
technician, and medical billing and coding. Money magazine and rank two of those among the Top 10 hottest
jobs of 2013.

The diversified menu of healthcare-related courses elevates Medtech College into a strong position to prepare graduates
for extraordinary career opportunities in some of the decade’s most in-demand professions. Medtech College – Growing Even Stronger As a leader focusing exclusively on healthcare education, Medtech College continually expands its program offerings. Indianapolis’ campus is developing an Associate in Applied Science Dental Hygiene degree program. As part of the program, the campus plans to open a dental hygiene clinic, offering services to the public.

Because dental hygienists are preventive health professionals who integrate the roles of clinician, educator, advocate and researcher in promoting good health and disease prevention, program accreditation is extremely rigorous. The process requires site visits and approval from the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). Initial preparations have been completed and the school’s application is being reviewed. Medtech College expects to launch its Indianapolis dental hygiene program next year.

With a focus on emerging healthcare needs, Medtech College is a valued contributor to the Indianapolis
community and a leader in healthcare career education nationwide.
